Prime Minister MAY’s letter which is meant to be delivered to European Council President, DONALD TUSK, serves to give official notice under Article Fifty of the Lisbon Treaty.
The Prime Minister is then expected to brief Members of parliament that the moment has come for the country to come together, as the countdown for UK’s departure from the EU begins.
