AHMED ABBA was jailed by a military tribunal after he was convicted of non-denunciation of terrorism and laundering of the proceeds of terrorist acts.
But campaign groups have faulted the conviction of ABBA, saying that he was simply reporting on the Islamist militant group.
The Committee to Protect Journalists described the ruling as a travesty of justice, adding that ABBA is innocent and will appeal the judgment.
Before the sentencing; AHMED ABBA had been in jail for almost two years.
