Bodo-Bonny: Drivers Praise Government but Raise Checkpoint Concerns

Bus and taxi drivers operating along the newly completed Bodo-Bonny Road have commended the Federal Government for opening the route to traffic, highlighting the economic opportunities it has created.

However, the drivers have raised concerns about the numerous checkpoints along the road, alleging that frequent roadblocks set up by security operatives and some community groups often force them to give up a significant portion of their daily earnings. They appealed to the government and relevant security agencies to address the issue urgently.

Speaking on the economic impact of the road, Sunday Christian, Vice Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Bonny Branch, said the project has opened new business opportunities and enhanced commercial activities.

Passengers also expressed gratitude to the government, noting that the road has made travel to and from Bonny more convenient and efficient.
