Leading the debate in plenary, Senator GBOLAHAN DADA said the absence of an embargo on importation of firearms was affecting Nigeria negatively.
Our correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that the objectives of the amendment bill include to increase the fine for offences committed under the act from one thousand naira to one hundred thousand naira.
It also provides for destruction of firearms illegally imported into the country or found in possession of an individual without valid licence.
