Returnees from Bakassi who arrived in Calabar, Cross River State last week claimed that over ninety of their members were killed by Cameroonian forces.
It was alleged that the deaths occurred earlier this month when a Cameroonian paramilitary unit was enforcing a three hundred dollars fishing levy.
Following the development; Nigeria’s Interior Minister ABDULRAHMAN DAMBAZAU accused Cameroon of breaching an agreement to protect citizens left behind in Bakassi.
But Cameroon’s Information Minister ISSA TCHIROMA BAKARY has described reports of the death claims as fake, adding that nobody died.
BAKARY blamed Nigerians in Bakassi for failing to pay taxes when they were required to do so.
