Authorities in Afghanistan have confirmed the death of Taliban leader MULLAH OMAR.

A spokesman for Afghanistan’s security services, ABDUL HASSIB SEDDIQI said MULLAH OMAR died two years ago in Pakistan.

SEDDIQI said MULLAH OMAR had died of health problems at a hospital in Pakistan.

There had been previous reports about the death of the Taliban leader which turned out to be false, but the latest reports are being taken more seriously.

The BBC reports that Taliban’s two main councils in Quetta and Peshawar in Pakistan are holding intensive talks to agree on a replacement for MULLAH OMAR.
