Atalanta BC have rejected an initial bid from Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. for highly rated defender Honest Ahanor.
Reports indicate that Brighton submitted an offer worth about €34 million (£30 million) for the 18-year-old defender, but Atalanta turned it down as they value the player significantly higher.
The Serie A club are determined to retain Ahanor, who impressed during his debut season and is regarded as one of Italy’s brightest young defensive talents.
Despite the setback, Brighton are reportedly expected to continue their pursuit of the teenager as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
