Our correspondent SANDRA KENNETH reports that the threat was issued by the Port Harcourt Zone of ASUU, led by Professor BEKE SESE.
The ASUU Zonal leader who briefed newsmen in Bayelsa State on the development, said the Federal Government owed the union about four hundred and ninety-five billion naira.
Professor BEKE SESE observed that the Federal Government has shown insincerity in dealing with challenges confronting the educational sector.
He said government has not fulfilled an agreement reached with ASUU in 2009, as well as failed to implement in full a memorandum of understanding signed in 2013.
Professor SESE said one of the failed agreements is the payment of Earned Academic Allowances, which he said was meant to enhance academic productivity and increased research output in the universities.
The Port Harcourt Zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities also condemned the removal of vice chancellors of twelve new federal universities.
Professor BEKE SESE argued that it was responsibility of the councils of the universities to appoint vice chancellors, as clearly spelt out in the Universities Provisions Amendment Act of 2003.
Our correspondent reports that ASUU Chairmen from universities under Port Harcourt Zone were present during the media briefing in Bayelsa State.
