ASUU: Portharcourt region vow to continue with strike

South-South Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, UZO ONYEBINAMA in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt said the union embarked on strike as the federal government has failed to honour and implement the memorandum of action that it entered into with the union on the 7th of February 2019.

ONYEBINAMA added that the reasons for the strike are issues that could have been avoided, making reference to the enrolment of ASUU into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS.

ONYEBINAMA also alleged that there is no substantial evidence to prove the claims by the Minister of Finance and National Planning, ZAINAB SHAMSUNA that IPPIS has flushed out seven hundred thousand ghost workers from the payroll of the federal government.

Our correspondent, SANDRA KENNETH reports that Chairmen of ASUU in the University of Port Harcourt, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Niger Delta University, Federal University Otueke were all present at the briefing.
