The INEC officials drawn from Plateau, Oyo and Anambra states are standing trial for alleged corruption before a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt.

However; our correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA reports the trial of the suspects was stalled because of the absence of two of the INEC officials on health grounds.

Following the development; Justice HILARY OSHOMAH adjourned the matter to the 17th, 18th and 19th of July to begin the speedy arraignment of the electoral officials.

Speaking outside the courtroom, counsel of the first to nineteenth defendants, WOLE BALOGUN was however not happy that the trial judge decided to continue with the case during the vacation period.

On his part, the Prosecution Counsel, SALIU KAYODE said he suspects a deliberate ploy by the defense to delay the matter.

Correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA reports that there was heavy security presence in court due to the matter involving the twenty-three INEC officials.
