With the replacement of Senator ALI NDUME with Senator AHMED LAWAN as the Senate Leader, the APC national leadership said it was a welcome development.
In a statement obtained by our correspondent, the National Publicity Secretary of APC, BOLAJI ABDULLAHI, said the party considers the development as a concrete expression of faith by the APC Senate Caucus in efforts to resolve the lingering issues that trailed the election of the Senate leadership.
ABDULLAHI said the change of the Senate Leader was a major step forward in continuing efforts to reunite various interest groups in the controversial election that produced the leadership of the Senate, which he said would ultimately present a common legislative front for the APC.
The party spokesman thanked Senator ALI NDUME for his service and sacrifice in the interest of the APC, which would not be forgotten by the party.
He also congratulated the new Senate Leader, Senator AHMED LAWAN, on his election by the APC Caucus in the Senate.
ABDULLAHI said it was the hope of the APC leadership that Senator LAWAN would use his vast experience and knowledge to enhance legislative works to advance the change agenda of the ruling party.
However; after the plenary at the Senate, Senator NDUME told newsmen that he was surprised at the decision by the APC Caucus; adding that he was not aware of what led to the decision or where the APC Senate Caucus held its meeting and resolved to have him removed.
