The All Progressives Congress has said the increasing number of politicians defecting from opposition parties is proof that Nigerians are beginning to embrace the ruling party nationwide. Party leaders stated that the trend reflects growing confidence in the policies and leadership of President Bola Tinubu. According to the APC, the defections are voluntary and driven by the desire of politicians to align with what it described as a progressive national agenda ahead of future elections.
The party also dismissed claims that defectors were being coerced or induced, insisting that its growing influence is a result of governance reforms and political stability. It added that internal reconciliation efforts and grassroots mobilisation have strengthened its structures across states.
