Chief UCHENDU said the amnesty offer was politically motivated, alleging that it was a ploy to rig the upcoming re-run election.
He however acknowledged that there is nothing wrong in granting amnesty on its own, but noted that the offer was ill timed and called of an adjustment in the timing.
Chief UCHENDU was speaking when he appeared on Today FM’s program, Insight Today.
Chief ANDREW UCHENDU also said the state is not conducive for elections considering the security situation and called on the state government and security agencies to rise up to their duties and ensure that lives and properties are protected.
Reacting to comments by Rivers State Governor NYESOM WIKE over his age, Chief UCHENDU advised the Governor to show respect to the elderly if he wishes to live long.
