Instead, CHUKWU said the President of the Court of Appeal decided to create a special panel to handle the matter because of what he called systemic delay of the matter by the Rivers State Government.
Meanwhile; hearing has been delayed in the matter involving elected chairmen and councillors of the twenty-three local government councils in Rivers State who were sacked soon after Governor NYESOM WIKE assumed office in 2015.
Our correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA reports that the matter at the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt was delayed due to fresh applications and also because some parties were yet to be served.
The Presiding Appeal Judge, Justice DONGBAM MENSEN adjourned the case to 6th November for mention and directed that all parties should be served with all processes before the next date.
Outside the courtroom, Counsel to the Appellants, SEBASTIAN HON, who is a Senior Advocate e of Nigeria, said the development in court suggest that the state government was deliberately delaying the matter.
On his part, EMEKA ETIABA, also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, who represented Governor NYESOM WIKE and the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, described what happened in court as an ambush.
Meanwhile; the Appellate Court granted the Rivers State Governor an order of substituted service.
