Yohanna, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, replaces Senator Elisha Abbo of the All Progressives Party who was sacked by the Court of Appeal Court last Monday.
The three-member panel presided over by Justice C. E. Nwosu-Iheme, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to issue a Certificate of Return to Yohanna as the duly elected Senator after it upturned Abbo’s victory at the tribunal level.
Senator Abbo has described the court’s decision as a coup on democracy but told his supporters to remain calm, vowing to seek re-election in 2027.
