Our correspondent SANDRA KENNETH reports that the amnesty committee led by Sir KENNETH CHINDA was not impressed with the nature of weapons presented by the groups.
The rejected cultists are members of the Greenland, Deybam and Red Scorpion cult groups in Bonny.
CHINDA said the groups did not show sincerity in the process, adding that the kind of guns they submitted do not reflect the high rate of violence in the area.
Therefore; the Amnesty Committee issued a forty-eight-hour deadline to the Iceland group and the Red Scorpion cult groups to surrender their arms or face the wrath of law.
Meanwhile; during its latest outing to Bonny yesterday, the Rivers State Amnesty Committee recovered one AK-47 rifle, one Pump Action gun, seven locally made pistols, one English made pistol, two Dane guns, and eighty-seven special ammunition, among other dangerous items.
