Amechi threaten legal actions against Justice OKORO over allegations of bribery.

Justice OKORO is one of the Justices who were recently arrested by the Department of State Services as part of its investigation into the allegations of massive corruption involving some officers of the Nigerian Judiciary.

He accused the former Governor of Rivers State of attempting to bribe him to rule in favour of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State over the election case at the Supreme Court.

However; AMAECHI said he has never discussed any matter pending before the Supreme Court of Nigeria with Justice INYANG OKORO either in his house or anywhere else.

In a statement personally signed by him, the Minister said he would not have responded to the allegations but for the sake of clearing his name.

The statement read that the letter by Justice OKORO is a poor attempt to politicize what is clearly a serious National tragedy and shame, stressing that the issues of corruption at the highest levels of the country’s judiciary should be addressed objectively.

AMAECHI noted that it was demeaning and childish of a Justice of the Supreme Court to imply that the security operatives of the nation will arrest a Justice of the Supreme Court for no reason other than the instructions of a Minister.

He advised Justice OKORO to be objective in dealing with the issue at hand and not indulging in what he described as unnecessary sentiments against innocent public officers.
