World number three Carlos Alcaraz is set to return to competitive tennis at next month’s Cincinnati Open after being named on the tournament’s official entry list following a lengthy injury layoff.
The Spanish star has been sidelined since April after sustaining a wrist injury during the Barcelona Open, forcing him to miss both the French Open and Wimbledon.
Alcaraz, the defending Cincinnati Open champion, is expected to use the ATP Masters 1000 event to regain match fitness ahead of the US Open, where he will also defend his title.
World number one Jannik Sinner is also among the players entered for the Cincinnati Open, which is scheduled to take place from August 13 to 23.
