Akwa United appoints Kennedy Boboye as new Coach following John Obuh’s resignation

Boboye who as worked as the coach of Sunshine Stars, Abia Warriors and Plateau United becomes the fourth permanent coach of Akwa United within three years.

Obuh resigned from his position following the scandalous 3-0 loss to MFM FC of Lagos on Friday. Boboye will seek to turn things around for Akwa United who had a bad start to the 2019/2020 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

HOWEVER, forward Ndifreke Effiong has tendered an unreserved apology to the management, technical crew, teammates and fans, for his outburst with the technical crew during the 3-0 defeat away to MFM of Lagos, at the Agege Township Stadium, last Friday.

Effiong, was involved in a rift with the Head Coach of the team, John Obuh, which many believe may have hampered his relationship with the former Flying Eagles handler, who resigned his position, yesterday.

In a chat with the club’s official website, akwaunitedfc.net, the CHAN Eagles forward expressed regrets over his action, and pleaded with fans of the club, to keep faith with the two times Aiteo Cup winners, while promising to turn a new leaf.

The former Abia Warriors striker who scored six goals last season, has scored four times for the Promise Keepers in the current season, including a hat-trick against Adamawa United on matchday 6, and he is looking forward to adding to his goals tally when the team face Rivers United on
