The air strikes are in support of what the Nigerian Military tags “Operation Rescue Finale” in the ongoing anti-insurgency warfare.
The Air Force aerial raids in the Sambisa Forest, the enabling environment is created for ground troops to launch the final onslaught against remnants of Boko Haram terrorists.
A statement released by the Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Group Captain AYODELE FAMUYIWA noted that a number of vehicles, fuel depots and other logistics items belonging to the terrorists have been destroyed.
The statement also confirmed attacks on a number of camps and hideouts used by cattle rustlers and armed bandits at Gidan Garba and Burwaye areas of Zamfara State.
Group Captain FAMUYIWA stated that the camps were strafed by Alpha Jets and Mi-24 attack helicopters following intelligence reports.
He said the L-39ZA aircraft, which were recently reconfigured to carry arms, also participated in the operation.
