This time, the verbal exchange is taking a security dimension, as the River PDP wants the APC candidate for Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Senator MAGNUS ABE to be stripped of his security escort.
In a statement released by his media assistant, the State Chairman of the PDP, FELIX OBUAH, said the party was shocked that Senator ABE still enjoys the protection of police security what he described as a subsisting police order withdrawing such personnel.
OBUAH described as intimidating the number of anti-terrorism police men and military personnel personally attached to Senator ABE.
The PDP Chairman said besides creating a false impression of insecurity in the land, moving around with siren blaring anti-terrorism team intimidates the people and residents in Rivers State.
However; the Rivers APC has expressed worry about what it described as an obsession of the Rivers PDP and the State Governor, NYESOM WIKE in allegedly stalking Senator MAGNUS ABE.
State Publicity Secretary of the APC, CHRIS FINEBONE, disclosed in a statement that intelligence report available to the party indicates that the top echelon of the PDP could be planning to assassinate Senator ABE as a means of stop him.
FINEBONE hinged the APC’s suspicion on the statement issued by State Chairman of the PDP, FELIX OBUAH, through his media assistant, JERRY NEEDAM, questioning security details attached to Senator ABE.
The APC further questioned Governor WIKE’s interest in the Rivers South-East Senatorial District election, where not much is heard of the PDP candidate, OLAKA WOGU, but the governor himself doing all the campaigning.
Also speaking on the development; the APC Chairman for Omuma Local Government, CHARLES AMAEHULE said it was necessary to draw the attention of the public to the threat to the life of Senator MAGNUS ABE.
CHARLES AMAEHULE who spoke in a telephone interview with our correspondent; warned that the leadership of the Rivers PDP should be held responsible if any harm befalls Senator ABE.
