Clerk of the State High Court who made the announcement in the court noted that the trial judge, who is also the Chief Judge of Rivers State would not appear for sitting due to an important engagement.
Our correspondent observed that there was heavy presence of security operatives, including prison officials who accompanied the suspect OJUKAYE FLAG-AMACHREE to the court premises.
It would be recalled that Justice IYAYE LAMINKARA ordered that the suspect be produced in court to take plea for a fresh charge of murder and attempted murder.
She also ordered the prison authorities to appear before her to explain why they should not be jailed for failing to produce the suspect for three consecutive times.
Speaking outside the courtroom, one of the counsels to OJUKAYE FLAG-AMACHREE, EMENIKE EBETE told newsmen that the trial judge was in the best position to explain her absence.
Correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA reports that the matter was adjourned till October 27 for plea.
