Adamu, APC NWC back governors against Buhari’s naira redesign policy

The Supreme Court had while ruling on an ex parte application filed by the governors of Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara state, temporarily restrained the federal government from banning the use of the old naira notes from February 10.

But rather than obey the court injunction, President BUHARI made a nationwide broadcast directing the CBN to make available the old two hundred naira notes for the next 60 days.

The APC governors who had openly expressed their disappointment against the policy, kicked against the directive by the president.

The governors after an emergency meeting resolved that the naira redesign policy was hurting Nigerians and the country’s economy and therefore, called on president Buhari to intervene.

The APC national chairman who summoned the meeting also said the governor’s forum, and the NWC of the party were on the same page.
