Environmental activist, Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface, has commended the Federal Government for cancelling its earlier plan to sell the Port Harcourt refinery, describing the move as a welcome development.
Fyneface, who is the Executive Director of the Youth and Environmental Advocacy Centre, said the decision was cheering news, especially for stakeholders in the Niger Delta.
He noted that the refinery was shut down shortly after barely resuming operations due to the federal government’s failure to carry out a thorough turnaround maintenance. He called on the government to urgently ensure that the loading of petroleum products resumes at the facility to maximize its potential and benefit the economy.
