Activist call for more Government action on soot

Today FM’s Chinedu Iwunna reports that the call followed the resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly last Thursday recognizing right to clean healthy and sustainable environment as a human right.

Addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt, the Director of the African Indigenous Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development,Legbosi Pyagbara said the move by the United Nations now means that member states should take concrete steps in addressing the environmental issues around them.

Pyagbara also called on the Rivers state government to appoint a substantive Commissioner for Environment and also for the House of Assembly to pass the Rivers state Climate Commission Bill.

The environmental activist also commended the United Nations General Assembly for the passage of the resolution.
