Some shop owners who were affected by the fire, accused youths from Okuru of deliberately burning down the shops for reasons which they said were unknown to them.
The aggrieved shop owners alleged that the youths came with weapons to confront the owner of a scrap metal shop in the area.
They said spare parts, lubricants and scrap metals worth millions of naira were burnt by the fire.
One of the Landlords of the shops, Akpaka Ejimofo said the youths from Okuru claimed that the area belongs to their community, adding that the issue has been reported at the Amadi Police Station.
Today FM’s Ifunanya Obeme Ndukwe reports that all the goods in the shops were completely razed by the fire.
