A state funeral is being held in honour of one of Africa’s greatest entertainers, PAPA WEMBA, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.Reports say thousands of mourners attended the first day of the official commemorations to mark the sudden death of the music star after he slumped on stage in Cote d’Ivoire.The remains of PAPA WEMBA have been lying in the parliamentary building in the capital, Kinshasa, and will be taken later to his family home for the public to view, before his burial tomorrow.President JOSEPH KABILA also paid tribute to the late singer, during which he posthumously awarded him with one of DR Congo’s highest honours for loyal and eminent services given to the nation.PAPA WEMBA was born SHUNGU WEMBADIO PENE KIKUMBA in June 1949 in Lubefu, and died on 24th of April at the age of sixty-six.
