Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has revealed that he stepped away from acting in 2019 due to poor remuneration and what he described as the prevalence of mediocre productions in the industry.
Okanlawon said he became frustrated with the quality of work and the financial rewards available to actors at the time, prompting him to focus on other ventures outside the movie industry.
The actor explained that his break from acting allowed him to reassess his career and priorities before eventually returning to Nollywood.
He expressed optimism that the Nigerian film industry is evolving, noting that improved production standards and better opportunities are helping to make the profession more rewarding for actors.
