Taskforce arrest 20 for flouting markets ban order in Rivers state

Our correspondent SNADRA KENNETH who monitored compliance of traders reports that some people were apprehended at a market in Port Harcourt by members of the Rivers State task force on illegal street trading.

While major markets in Rumuokoro, Rumuagholu, Rukpoku, Eneka and Igwuruta have been shut down, those arrested were immediately handed over to the police for prosecution.

Some of the victims in an interview with our correspondent narrated the circumstances that led to their arrest just as they pleaded for mercy.

The Taskforce zonal commander, JERRY AMADI who confirmed the development to our correspondent, stressed the need for total compliance as he threatened to ensure that all defaulters face the full wrath of the law.
