The Senate has written to the Presidency on the confirmation of eighteen out of thirty-seven nominees for appointment as ministers.
Senate President wrote on his Facebook Timeline that he personally wrote to President MUHAMMDU BUHARI to inform his that the eighteen nominees so far screened and confirmed were found suitable to occupy office of ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Meanwhile; it is becoming clearer that former governor of Rivers State, ROTIMI AMAECHI will face screening before the Senate for confirmation of his nomination for appointment as a minister.
Senate Spokesman, DINO MELAYE gave this indication while responding to questions from newsmen at the National Assembly on the delay of the report of the Ethics and Privileges Committee on the petition challenging AMAECHI’s nomination.
Senator MELAYE, who is a member of the Ethics Committee, said having listened to parties involved in the petition, the committee came up with only a one-line report.
Speaking separately; the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Senator SAMUEL ANYANWU did not give any specific information on the position of the investigation of the petition against AMAECHI.
Another member of the Ethics Committee, Senator ALIYU MOHAMMED dismissed insinuations of partisan political considerations in the handling of the petition against the former Rivers State governor.
Meanwhile; the Senate Spokesman, DINO MELAYE also confirmed the postponement of further screening of ministerial nominees to next week.
Senator MELAYE said the delay is to enable the ministerial nominees in the second batch to put together one hundred and nine copies of their credentials for submission to the Senate.
