The National Butchers Association of Nigeria has raised alarm over alleged distribution of smuggled meat in Rivers State that are not healthy for consumption.
State Chairman of the association, MUSA BABA-AHMED raised the alarm while briefing newsmen at the Slaughter Market in Port Harcourt.
BABA-AHMED alleged that meat from horses, camels and donkeys are brought into Rivers State by smugglers and sold as beef at cheaper rates to consumers.
BABA-AHMEDcalled for collaboration between the state government and the National Butchers Association of Nigeria to help check the smuggling.
