The International Federation of Women Lawyers is calling for the empowerment of rural women by Local Government Authorities.
The Chairperson of the Rivers State Chapter of the Federation, FLORENCE ITAMNOLA made the call in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt.
ITAMNOLA said it was the duty of Local Government authorities to bring forth the plight of the rural women to the state and federal levels, owing to their contribution to the growth of the nation.
She said the agricultural contribution of the rural women in the country makes it important for government to support them.
Correspondent CHINEDU IWUNNA reports that the FIDA Chairperson made the call against the backdrop of the 2015 International Day for Rural Women.
