The WHO wants governments around the world to adopt comprehensive breastfeeding policies and programmes in health facilities.
The call was made against the backdrop of WHO’s report that Nigeria, as well as China, India, Indonesia and Mexico lose some two hundred and thirty-six thousand children every year due to lack poor breastfeeding.
The report published by WHO in conjunction with the United Nations Children’s Fund and the Global Breastfeeding Collective, indicates that no country in the world fully meets the recommended standards for breastfeeding.
