In his first comments on the issue since taking office in January, President TRUMP said it would be wonderful if no nation had nuclear arms, but otherwise the US must be top of the pack.
Speaking in an interview with Reuter news agency, President TRUMP said the US had fallen behind on nuclear weapon capacity.
It may further interest you to note that the US presently has six thousand, eight hundred nuclear weapons, while Russia accounts for seven thousand; and critics have said both countries have more weapons than necessary to deter a nuclear attack.
