Nigeria’s Inflation Eases Marginally to 15.39% in August

Nigeria’s headline inflation rate eased marginally in August 2026, despite rising petrol prices, declining to 15.39 percent from 15.43 percent recorded in July.

According to the latest Consumer Price Index report released on Tuesday by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, the figure represents a 0.04 percentage-point decline in the headline inflation rate.

The statistics agency also reported a sharper slowdown in month-on-month inflation, which fell to 0.71 percent in August from 1.57 percent in July.

Food inflation also moderated during the period, recording 19.57 percent year-on-year in August 2026, compared with 25.30 percent recorded in August 2025.
