FG Sets Up Committee for Nationwide Rollout of 112 Emergency Number

The Federal Government has directed relevant stakeholders and agencies to develop a comprehensive operational roadmap for the nationwide rollout of the 112 national emergency number.

To facilitate the process, the government has constituted a committee comprising the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Communications Commission, National Emergency Management Agency, Federal Road Safety Corps and other relevant agencies.

The committee is expected to finalise the operational roadmap and standard operating procedures for the nationwide implementation of the emergency number.

The documents will subsequently be presented for formal endorsement by the National Economic Council, NEC.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha.

The initiative is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s emergency response system by providing citizens with a unified channel for accessing emergency services nationwide.
