The Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, in Rivers State, has called for calm among local government workers following the recently conducted staff verification exercise.
The union made the call after its State Executive Council meeting on Monday, August 24, where members deliberated on issues arising from the outcome of the verification exercise.
NULGE said it appreciates the Rivers State Government’s efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the local government system through the exercise.
However, the union requested a copy of the verification report from the Local Government Service Commission, saying access to the document would enable it to understand the outcome of the exercise and effectively represent the interests of local government employees.
In a statement, the President of NULGE in Rivers State, Evangelist Anthony Lenyie, said the union remains committed to protecting the legitimate interests and welfare of local government employees while supporting genuine efforts to strengthen the local government system.
