Former Imo State Governor and Senator Rochas Okorocha has sued the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over the publication of Governor Hope Uzodimma as the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election in 2027.
Okorocha, a two-term former governor of Imo State, is challenging the decision in court and has raised five questions for determination.
One of the issues is whether INEC was bound by reports from its officials who monitored the APC senatorial primary held on May 18. Okorocha claims he emerged winner of the primary and is challenging INEC’s decision to recognise Uzodimma as the party’s candidate for the election.
