The Reconciliation Committee of the Rainbow Coalition has assured that no member of the group will be victimised or discriminated against, irrespective of past political differences.
Chairman of the committee, Senator Magnus Abe, gave the assurance after the group met with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, at the Government House in Port Harcourt for the second time in about two weeks.
Abe said the meetings were focused on finding common ground and reaching an understanding on how previously divided political leaders could work together.
The APC South-South Publicity Secretary, Samuel Nwanosike, described the meeting as a positive development, saying it signals the return of unity within the political family.
Another political leader, Ambrose Nwuzi, said members who support Governor Fubara had agreed to embrace peace, describing the previous disagreements as normal in any human society.
Nwuzi said the reconciliation process was already underway and only required the final endorsement of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The committee also pledged to ensure that all members are treated equally and with respect as efforts continue towards achieving lasting political reconciliation in Rivers State.
