Police Confirm Death of Missing Commercial Driver in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 55-year-old commercial driver who was reported missing two weeks ago.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Blessing Agabe, said the driver, identified as Christopher Emmanuel Akpabio, was allegedly murdered by a suspected criminal syndicate after being hired by three suspects at Garrison Park to transport them to Asarama in Andoni Local Government Area.

The police said the suspects killed the driver during the trip, stole his vehicle, and buried his body in a shallow grave. The remains of the victim have been exhumed and deposited at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital mortuary, while the stolen vehicle has been recovered.

The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, advised commercial drivers to always inform family members or colleagues before embarking on long-distance or late-night journeys.
