REACTIONS TRAIL GOVERNOR FUBARA’S WITHDRAWAL FROM 2027 RACE

Reactions have continued to pour in following Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s decision not to contest the 2027 governorship election. While some residents of Port Harcourt and other parts of Rivers State expressed support for the decision, others criticised it, describing it as unexpected and disappointing.

Supporters of the governor said his withdrawal could help reduce the prolonged political tension in the state and create room for peace and stability after years of political crisis. They argued that the decision may help de-escalate conflicts among political actors.

However, critics described the move as a betrayal of trust, insisting that the governor had enjoyed widespread public support. They said many residents who stood by him felt abandoned and uncertain about the political future of the state.
