COMMERCIAL DRIVERS PROTEST ARREST OF MEMBERS IN PORT HARCOURT

Commercial drivers in Rivers State have appealed for intervention after several of their members were arrested by police around the Mile One axis of Port Harcourt.

The Chairman of the drivers’ union, Christopher Ezeala, said dozens of drivers were arrested on Tuesday for reasons that were not clearly communicated, calling on the police authorities to explain the action.

Responding, the Police Public Relations Officer in Rivers State, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrests but said they followed disturbances recorded around the Abali Park axis of the city.
