Okocha Says He, Two Others Backed Fubara’s Emergence in 2023

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, OCJ Okocha, has disclosed that he and two other prominent figures played key roles in the emergence of Governor Siminalayi Fubara in the 2023 governorship election.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Okocha said several factors were considered before supporting Fubara, including the need to allow the Ijaw ethnic group an opportunity to occupy the Brick House after successive administrations led by the Ikwerre.

He noted that his overriding interest remains the unity of Rivers State, stressing that the state must continue to exist as one indivisible entity.

The legal luminary expressed satisfaction that peace has returned to the political landscape of Rivers State after more than two years of intense political crisis.

Okocha urged members of the Rivers State House of Assembly and Governor Fubara to collaborate in order to sustain the current peace.

With Governor Fubara having submitted nine names as commissioner nominees, Okocha, who is also an ambassadorial nominee, called on the House of Assembly to expedite action on the screening and confirmation process.
