Tinubu Orders Defence Minister to Relocate to Kebbi After Abduction of 24 Schoolgirls

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to immediately relocate to Kebbi State following the abduction of 24 schoolgirls in the state.

The directive was disclosed in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. According to the statement, President Tinubu instructed Matawalle to remain in Kebbi and directly oversee security operations aimed at securing the release of the abducted students.

Gunmen had stormed the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, located in the Sakaba area of Kebbi State, at about 4:00 a.m. on Monday. During the attack, they abducted the students, though one girl managed to escape shortly after, leaving 24 still in captivity.

Security agencies have since intensified efforts to track the abductors and rescue the remaining students.
