Lagos High Court Dismisses Application to Quash Legal Advice in Mohbad Case

The Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja has refused to grant the application filed by Joseph Aloba, father of the late Mohbad, seeking to quash the Department of Public Prosecutions’ (DPP) legal advice and subsequent court proceedings that led to the release of Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and others accused of involvement in Mohbad’s death.

Justice Taiwo Olatokun delivered her judgment today, affirming that the exercise of powers by the Attorney General regarding prosecution decisions was validly carried out. The judge also stated that the powers of the Attorney General, acting through the DPP, could not be questioned in this context. Consequently, the reliefs sought by late Mohbad’s father were denied, and the court dismissed the application in its entirety.
