PETROAN blames LPG price fluctuation on market forces

Although, the price of LPG had in the month of May declined, the state chairman of PETROAN, Francis Dimkpa, stated that it is uncertain if the price reduction can be sustained.

Dimkpa, in an interview with Today FM’s Ifunanya Obeme-Ndukwe, however noted that the price of cooking has not reduced to the expectation of Nigerians, going by the Federal Government Gas Expansion Programme on deepening gas consumption.

The state chairman of PETROAN also appealed to the new Federal Government administration, to give approval for licensed gas operators to procure cooking gas directly from the Nigerian Liquified Natural Gas and erode the practice of middlemen, who he said attributes to the increase in the price of LPG.

Francis noted that if marketers buy LPG directly from NLNG as off takers, the price will be reduced for the masses.

Cooking gas is now sold at the price of seven hundred and sixty naira per kilogram, and nine thousand naira for twelve kg cylinder, as against the ten thousand naira sold in the last few months.
