At the resumption of plenary today, speaker of the house, Ikwuiyi Owaji Ibani, read out a correspondence from the Governor requesting the House to screen and confirm the shortlisted persons as commissioner designates and members of the state executive.
All four nominees were former commissioners in the cabinets of the immediate past governor of the state, Nyesom Wike.
The nominees are former Attorney General of the state, Professor Zaccheaus Adangor, former Commissioner of Work, Dakorinama George-Kelly, former Commissioner of Finance, Isaac Kamalu and former Commissioner of Education, Professor Chinedu Nmom.
The speaker, in his remarks, noted that the nominees performed very well while serving the state in the past administration.
Corroborating the speaker’s remarks, leader of the House, Martins Ameawhule, member representing Obio/Akpor constituency I, moved a motion that the nominees take a bow and exit the hallowed chamber.
Consequently, following the decision of the House, the Speaker confirmed the nomination and directed the Clark of the House to speedily forward the decision of the House to the Governor.
