A new parliament of the Economic Community of West African States has been constituted with one hundred and fifteen new members.
The inauguration marks the opening of the 4th Session of the regional ECOWAS Parliament, which came with the election of a new Speaker in the person of Senegalese-born MOUSTAPHA CISSE-LO.The emergence of CISSE-LO came as a unanimous decision by the Anglophone and Francophone member states.The new speaker takes over from Nigeria’s Senator IKE EKWEREMADU who had pushed for enhancement of the powers of ECOWAS parliament.
