2023:police decry inadequate manpower

The D. P. Os spoke on the sidelines of a capacity building on election security management, organized for Divisional Police Officers by the CLEEN Foundation in Port Harcourt.

They said the lack of logistics have also been hampering their activities during and after electioneering process.

The DPOs also lamented over the deployment of police officers without the knowledge and proper communication to them.

A Deputy Inspector General of police, in charge of operations, Joshak Habila who spoke at the event, urged police officers across the country to ensure they create a friendly environment for voters.

On his part, the programs officer of Cleen Foundation, Olaniyi Olumayowa said the training is aimed at ensuring free and fair elections next year.

Today FM’s Sandra Kenneth reports that the training which will last for five days, had DPOs from Cross Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa in attendance while officers from Edo, Akwa-Ibom and Rivers state were absent on the first day of the training.
