A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has heard how the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, OLISA METUH, handed over two million US dollars in cash to an investment manager at his home in Abuja.NICOLE ARARUME made the revelation after she was called in as the first prosecution witnessed by counsel to the EFCC when METUH’s trial over a seven-count charge of money laundering opened yesterday.ARARUME recounted that she undertook the assignment on behalf of METUH while serving as wealth manager with Commercial Resource Management Company.The prosecution witness said she received two million dollars in one hundred dollar bills from METUH, which she took to two bureau the change companies for onward transfer to the Asset and Resources Management account of the PDP spokesman and his company, Destra Investment Limited.The prosecution also invited a bureau de change operator as second witness, who went on to corroborate the testimony of the first witness.Before the trial commenced, the defence counsel, OYEACHI IKPEAZU failed to convince the court about the need to delay the proceeding pending the consideration of an application for variation of his client’s bail conditions.The Senior Advocate of Nigeria also tried to persuade the court to allow him time to prepare for cross-examination of the defence witnesses.He observed that the allegations of the witness were serious, adding that he needed to get the necessary documents that would enable him prepare adequately, but that was turned down by the trial judge.
